Lutron DT1236L is an optical-contact tachometer for measuring the speed of rotating objects from a distance (up to 2m). This is made possible by a laser illuminator and laser light detector. This functionality is extremely useful in situations where it is significantly difficult, impossible or dangerous to get close to the object under investigation.
