TheRohde & Schwarz NGM202 is a programmable dual-channel power supply, its high accuracy and fast return time makes it ideal for demanding applications. Their dual-quadrant architecture allows them to function as both source and load electronics for battery and load simulation. Short power ramp-up times allow them to respond quickly to load changes that occur, for example, when switching mobile communications equipment from sleep to transmit mode. Fast data collection and convenient battery simulation expand the range of applications.

Readings with resolution up to 6½ digits

With a resolution of up to 6½ digits when measuring voltage, current and power, the R&S®NGM200 power supplies are ideal for testing devices that have low standby power consumption and high current in full-load operation. Two voltage measurement ranges and four current measurement ranges provide high accuracy and resolution down to 1 µV/10 nA.

Digital voltmeter function

Like other power supplies, the R&S®NGM200 instruments measure the voltage supplied to the DUT. In addition, the R&S®NGM-K104 option activates a port that allows an internal digital voltmeter to be connected to any other point
in the customer's circuit. In many cases, an additional digital multimeter is not necessary

Two-quadrant operation: act as source and load

The dual-quadrant architecture of the power supplies allows them to function as both source and load and
simulate batteries . The power supply automatically switches from source mode to load mode . As soon as the externally applied voltage exceeds the set nominal voltage value, current flows into the power supply. This is indicated by a negative current reading.

Battery simulation

Real batteries show different characteristics depending on the type of battery and its state of charge.
Capacitance, open circuit voltage (Voc) and equivalent series resistance (ESR) are important battery characteristics that depend on the battery's state of charge (SoC). The R&S®NGM-K106 option allows users to simulate the behavior of the
of a battery under different charging conditions, such as when feeding a DUT.
To define a battery model, battery data is easily entered using the integrated battery model editor.

Parameters for common Pb, LiIon, NiCd and NiMH battery types are available as pre-configured files.
These can be easily modified according to the needs of a specific application. Additional battery model data sets can be loaded from a USB device and stored in the power supply's memory
