Product overview

The TBOH01 5µH LISN is a device required for the configuration of conducted disturbance measurements of DC-powered equipment. It is designed for use in EMC pre-testing in the frequency range from 150 kHz to 110 MHz.
The LISN is inserted into the power line of the device under test. Conductive interference present at the power supply terminals of the device under test can be measured at the BNC connector using a spectrum analyzer or measurement receiver. The source (power supply) terminal and the DUT(device under test) terminal are separated by a 5µH inductive coil.

Key features

  • Frequency range: 100 kHz - 110 MHz (1 GHz, see Figure 4 in the manual)
  • DC resistance: 40 mΩ
  • Maximum current: 10 A.
  • Nominal operating voltage range: 0 - 60 V DC *.
  • * For safety reasons, the working voltage range is limited to 60 V DC.

Application

  • EMC pre-compliance testing for conducted noise

Note: This LISN is suitable for EMC testing of DC-powered equipment. For testing single-phase AC-powered equipment, TBLC08 can be used.

Connection method

Conducted noise measurements are usually carried out using a sheet metal as a ground plane. The GND terminals of all the devices involved are connected to the metal shield using short cables.
Since the measurement will be carried out in the laboratory and not in a shielded chamber, the background noise measurement should be carried out with the device under test turned off or unplugged so that the conducted noise spectrum can be distinguished from the background electrical smog.
The figure below shows a typical conducted emissions measurement configuration, such as that specified in the CISPR-25 standard. The details of the configuration will vary depending on the type of device under test and the applicable standards. For example, if the device under test has a vehicle power return wire shorter than 200 mm, one LISN is connected to the positive power wire. If the return wire of the device under test is longer than 200 mm, two LISNs are required. One for the positive power cable and one for the power return cable.
