Series description
The R&S® NGE100B power supply series consists of the two-channel R&S® NGE102 and the three-channel R&S® NGE103. Both units provide up to 33.6 watts of output power per channel.
Unlike most power supplies in this class, the Rohde & Schwarz NGE-COM3a power supply has 100% electrically equivalent output channels. All outputs are groundless and short-circuit proof. Output channels can be connected in series or parallel to achieve higher voltages or higher currents (up to 96 V/9 A when using all three channels of the R&S® NGE103).
All the basic functions of the Rohde & Schwarz NGE-COM3a power supply can be operated using the direct buttons on the front panel. The dial plays a central role in adjusting voltage and current and setting limits for universal protection functions. The screen simultaneously displays the operating conditions of all channels. Active channels are indicated by an illuminated channel button. Active outputs are displayed in green when operating in constant voltage mode and in red when operating in constant current mode. Inactive outputs are displayed in yellow.
To protect the instrument and the device under test (DUT), the Rohde & Schwarz NGE-COM3a power supply provides a number of protection functions. For each channel, the user can separately set the maximum current (electronic fuse, overcurrent protection, OCP), maximum voltage (overvoltage protection, OVP) or maximum power (overload protection, OPP). If this limit is reached, the affected output channel will be shut down. Overload protection (OTP) prevents the instrument from overheating.
In industrial applications, power supplies are often installed in 19" racks. The R&S® HZC95 rack-mounting kit allows the power supplies to be rack-mounted, also in conjunction with R&S® HMC test equipment. The R&S® NGE100B power supplies can be remotely controlled via USB or optionally via Ethernet or even wireless LAN.
