NDN Calibration Laboratory with accreditation!

In July 2022, our Calibration Laboratory received accreditation with the number AP 209 granted by the Polish Center for Accreditation (PCA) under the EA MLA international agreement. Thus, the Laboratory confirmed compliance with the requirements of PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories" in the field of calibration of electrical quantities.

Rigol with new Microwave Generator Series up to 8 channels

RF microwave signal generator up to 20 GHz

Up to 8 channels with high stability

RIGOL Technologies EU GmbH presents a new microwave generator with two different frequency ranges:

  • 9 kHz to 12 GHz
  • From 9 kHz to 20 GHz

The DSG5000 series instruments are available with 2, 4, 6 or 8 channels with up to 85 dB (typical) of inter-channel isolation. Frequency, amplitude and all available functions can be set and output individually for each channel or in a group for the desired number of channels. Depending on the frequency range, the amplitude can be adjusted from -30 dBm to +25 dBm. The DSG5000 series also features very low phase noise (133 dBc/Hz @ 1 GHz, 10 kHz (typical)). The harmonic level is up to 50 dBc below the carrier, which draws attention to the highly accurate, noise-free signal generation. Amplitude and frequency switching time is less than 3 ms.

RIGOL's patented all-digital amplitude control technology offers its accuracy of <0.7 dB (typical). What's more, the generator's specification is also impressive when it comes to frequency accuracy. For 10 MHz, accuracy is +/-1 ppm (optional with OXCO; +/-10 ppb). Highly synchronous derivation of several channels with the same phase will not be a problem with the DSG5000 Series generators. DSG5000 offers long term phase stability: <1° @10 GHz, as well as individual phase adjustment for each channel, which are ideal for long-term testing.

Forms of analog modulation such as analog[AM], frequency[FM] and phase[PM] can be generated over the entire frequency range from 1 MHz through single or all channels. The device also offers the ability to use pulse modulation with a typical rise/fall time of 20 nanoseconds over the same set frequency range. Depending on the carrier frequency, the on/off level can be as high as 80 dB (typical). The DSG5000 series also offers a pulse train function with up to 2047 pulse patterns, for example, to create the desired radar profile. Again, the pulse width in the on and off areas can be adjusted from 20 nanoseconds to 170 seconds. The integrated sweep function can be used as a list or through selected increments for both amplitude and frequency, or both in combination.

Front panel

The 3.5mm (male) jacks for HF output are located on one side on the front. There are also four additional outputs per channel on the front panel:

  • pulse for signal regularity,
  • trigger inputs/outputs,
  • pulse signal output during pulse generation
  • pulse output during sweep application.

Operation of the device

The device is very easy to operate via an intuitive 3.5" color touch screen display or via Web Control. You do not need to install the controller on your computer to use the Web Control function. As an option, you can also connect a monitor via HDMI and operate the device with a mouse, which in turn is connected via USB3.0 interfaces on the front of the device.

Like all RIGOL devices, the DSG5000 series can also be 100% controlled via SCPI commands via LAN (up to 1000 T-Base) or USB3.0 interfaces. The size of the devices is 2U, so they can be integrated into a rack system using an optionally available rack installation kit. If 8 channels are not enough, multiple DSG5000 units can also be combined and synchronized to achieve the desired number of channels. For this purpose, the unit offers a 4.8 GHz synchronization frequency for inputs and outputs on the rear of the unit.

Applications

The DSG5000 series offers an optimal solution for many microwave applications, such as in the areas of EMC stress testing, MIMO applications, pacing system configuration and quantum computer testing, in the field of radar signal generation, and many others.
